Meet The Doctor
Prosthodontist Caren C. Ruht, DMD
Dr. Caren Ruht is a native of Wilmington, Delaware.
She is the daughter of the late Charles Carey, DDS who was also a graduate of Temple University Dental School, as well as the former President of the Dental School Alumni Association. Caren’s mother, Sarah Carey, is currently a resident of the Lehigh Valley having moved here approximately ten years ago to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Dr. Ruht matriculated from Dickinson College and Temple University to the Temple University Dental School where she received a Certificate in Dental Hygiene. This was followed by her D.M.D. from Temple University Dental School.
Dr. Ruht received numerous awards during her dental school studies: The Pediatric Award for Dentistry and the OKU (National Honor Society for Dental Students). She graduated from Temple University Dental School in 1979 and was in the top 2% of her class.
Following her graduation, Dr. Ruht did a general dental residency, which included trauma, at West Jersey Hospital – Voorhees and Camden facilities. After her residency, Dr. Ruht entered private practice from 1980 to the present, having pursued additional graduate studies from 1993-1995. These graduate studies, again, were completed at Temple University Dental School in Prosthodontics where she received her Certificate in Prosthodontics.
Dr. Ruht continues to see General Dentistry and Pediatric Patients with emphasis on her reconstructive Prosthodontics Practice. Dr. Ruht has maintained additional academic interest teaching dental residents at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg and at Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown.
Dr. Ruht currently lives in Allentown with her husband, Barry A. Ruht, MD, an Orthopedic Surgeon also in Private Practice. Her three children and three grandchildren are her number one interest away from work.
Dr. Ruht’s hobbies include downhill skiing, reading, bicycling and spending time with her immediate and extended family.

Achievements:
Dr. Ruht was recently noted in the Temple University Dental School alumni publication, “The Diamond”, documenting her as being a “member of the longest family tree in the history of Temple University Dental School” with nine additional immediate and extended family members having received degrees at Temple University Dental School. Her daughter, Danielle Ruht, graduates with a D.M.D. from Temple University Dental School in June 2013, continuing the family legacy.
